I had a chance to hear Keith speak, and also read his other book – Never Eat Alone. This one, as noted by a few other reviewers, has some good insights, but is probably twice as long as is needed, and emphasized the importance of having a personal board of directors to help with guidance and decision making. That board should not be made up of friends, necessarily, but of people who will challenge you and your assumptions, and drive you to being the best you can be. Ferrazzi’s anecdotes and advice is solid, if somewhat repetitive to his other book and many other similar books out there. The most interesting aspects of the book and the best insights revolve around Ferrazzi’s own challenges in the growth phase of his own company. A worthwhile read, and probably worth 3.5 stars if I could give it that, but since it is well overstarred here, I will downgrade it to a 3.

I read this book when it first came out and ever since have recommended it to clients and students. I teach at UCLA Extension and I’ve noticed that an ever growing number of my students are interested in learning how to form real-world networks. Social media savvy, they’re now realizing that “something” is missing – and that something is what Ferrazzi writes about with practical insight: how to create and nurture relationships that help you become more of who you’re meant to be.

Simply put – this is essential reading!
