This review is from: D’Addario J67 Nickel Mandolin Strings (Electronics)
Before buying D’Addario J67 strings this week, all I had ever used before were the J74 Mandolin Strings (Phosphor Bronze Medium). The J74 are the ones that are typically used by a music store when the mandolin is on display, because they’re nice and bright (and look pretty). I’m still not sure which I prefer. The J67 strings seem a little lighter which is a little easier on the fingers (but not by much). As a result, it seems a little easier to get the note without fretting quite as hard, but they still have a good sound. They do sound a little twangier than the J74 strings, but that may be a desired sound. Although I do really like the J74 strings, one thing I don’t particularly like is how tarnished they become. They are great when they’re all bright and shiny, but after a few months the brassy look gets fairly dingy looking. That shouldn’t be much of an issue with these.

Fabulous strings transformed my instrument. I bought a used mandolin and strings that came with it really needed replacement. These strings look and feel good. The instrument sounds richer in tone.
