Very compact, easy to use. It doesn’t have great instructions, but it’s intuitive enough that it didn’t need a lot. As you can see in the picture, I tested it out with a piece of dry wood that I had on hand – light turned green for low moisture level. As a test, I then tried it on a live aspen tree. As you can see in the pic, the light turned red for high moisture. Pretty simple.

OK this thing is awesome. It doesnât work just for wood it works for mortar and other materials to read moisture. I wanted it for two different projects. One being Our wood that we burn for heat. I felt like we can test The moisture of last yearâs cut and this yearâs cut. And burn the wood thatâs most dry first. The second project is for making longbows. The moisture for this project in the what is critical. The wood needs to be dry and straight. In the picture included in the review we weather down the wood and tested it in the wet spot and a dry spot. Looks like the reader works great would recommend.

Meter is consistent and precise (reads to 0.x%). Of course, as with any other type of meter, that does not mean it is accurate. It could be precisely wrong.

I have no way to test its accuracy but just based on my observations — it’s obvious when wood is very dry or very wet — it seems to be working properly. I haven’t seen any contradictory readings.

It is pretty sturdy, which is important because the pins/probes must be stuck into the wood a bit in order for it to get a reading..

I was just looking at it and noticed that the tip of one probe is bent, so I knocked it down to 4 stars. I haven’t used it that much, and only apply moderate pressure — just enough to get a reading.

Just now I was able to straighten the probe tip with some needle nose pliers, but the metal seems soft. It should be harder to penetrate hard wood without much pressure and without bending.
