    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

When we decided to remodel a 2nd floor bathroom, I looked around for options for getting rid of the trash from the demolition. My usual dumpster source recommended that I call Waste Management for the small dumpster I needed as they no longer offered anything smaller than a 10 cubic yard size for around $365. I had seen the ads for the Bagster, so I decided to give it a try.

I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews, but I went ahead and ordered the first bag, which we quickly filled, so I bought a second bag locally at a Menards, and ordered a third bag, which we also filled with old tile, drywall, cement board, and your miscellaneous studs and old flooring. I called for pickup, crossed my fingers, and waited.

The driver showed up within two days of the call, and snatched all three of the bags, but before he did he informed me that I could throw a lot more in the bags than I had. )(*& &^%$!. Who knew? Unfortunately, I had thrown out everything I had and didn’t have any more to offer, so he took what I had, and drove off.

I would definitely use this product and service again. There are a few things to watch out for. You need to be careful where you place the bags for both street access and overhead access like power lines and tree limbs. The truck used to pick up the bags has a 16′ boom, and the truck is somewhat over 10′ wide. I was fortunate in that my driveway is only 18′ long, and the driver used an extra strap to pull the last bag close enough to be lifted. Also, you can keep filling the bags as long as the straps used to lift the bag can be pulled together at the top. If you have sharp objects, it’s a good idea to bury them in the middle of the pile so they won’t rip the bag and dump what you’ve collected before it’s in the truck.

I think the Bagster saved me money. Pick-up in our area of Wisconsin is $109 for the first bag, and $45 for each additional bag picked up at the same time. If I had it to do over again, I would probably pile more into the first two bags, and save myself the pickup and price of the additional bag. These bags hold more than I imagined they would.

Negative stars for customer service and false advertising, August 18, 2010

This is my first time writing any kind of review for a product and sadly it will be almost all negative! I agree with many others that the Bagster is a great product – it suited my needs perfectly (downsizing and moving)but then came the customer service nightmare. I used two bagsters within weeks of each other. The first bag went off without a hitch – filled it and it was picked up within 3 days (as they advertise.) The second bagster pick-up was nothing short of a disaster. 15 days after I placed the order for pick-up and dozens of phone calls later they finally picked it up. Customer service at Bagster is horrific – the customer service reps seem nice enough but they have no authority to do anything except listen and then when you push hard enough they’ll connect you (after a 20 min hold time both times)to a manager whose party line is “due to the demand and our success in your area…” Makes you wonder if business is so good why they’re not expanding their fleet of trucks? Anyhow, they finally picked up the bag, gave me a “20% customer satisfaction discount” (Are they freaking kidding me?)and left me to deal with an angry former landlord and the loss of a security deposit. Never again. Waste Management needs to get their act together and change their advertising, empower their customer service staff and buy more trucks if they want to rise above this negative impression that they’ve left on consumers.

DO NOT BUY A BAGSTER!!!!! The product itself seems to be fine. The customer service is probably the worst that I have ever seen. The day of my bagster pickup I came home to find it sill sitting in my driveway with no note attached, no phone call, nothing. I called customer service to find out the problem, and they had no information to give me but assured me that they would call me back and get it resolved. Next day no phone call and no pickup. Called back and got yes sir we will get it rescheduled and picked up ASAP. Three days pass and no call, etc. I call them back after noticing a $50 fee on my credit card from them. After speaking to a rep I asked to be transfer to a manger but was transfer to scheduling. Finally she transfers me to a manager. Then she tells me all sorts of BS about not being able to access the bagster in my driveway (BTW – my drive is 35 feet long and 11 feet wide with plenty of space to get in and out. Then they said it was obstructed by a Ford Explorer (There was no car in my driveway at the time plus I don’t own Explorer and live alone). My question was why didn’t the driver a) call me b) leave a note. Of course these questions cannot be answered. After asking for a refund for my $50 I get answer that she will forward it to her Ops Manager who will then decide if I get my money back. Of course I will never see this money again.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR – if you can, pile the debris somewhere on your property cover it with a tarp and call a LOCAL junk/debris removal company. You will save at least $70, a giant headache, and can sleep well knowing that you are supporting a local business instead wasting your money with Waste Management.
